I must say, dude, that’s one of the best articles I’ve read in a long time. A lot of bloggers just don’t get it that there’s no quick way to millions of dollars, it takes persistence and hard work.
Take my blog for example, in the 9 months or so I’ve blogged there, I’ve only made about $50. Why? Because I haven’t tried to monetise… I’ve tried to build a successful blog which will be ready for monetisation next year. See my point? I’ve spent 9 months for practically nothing, but hopefully next year it’ll be in a position to bring in the cash!

Simon, that’s because you understand the bigger picture. You can create the greatest thing since sliced bread, but if you haven’t established trust, then no one will believe you.
If you can’t answer the question “why should people care what I have to say?” well enough, then you’re really not at the point where monetization will bring in mucho dineros.

You are right. When I started Blogging, I thought that everything was easy : Huge (Instant) Traffic for example. But when I started diving down to the blogosphere sea, I realized that everything takes time. Determination is the way to success. Great Article..keep it up.

Nice post, you made good points. A lot of people have the wrong idea which doesn’t mean they are all utter morons so maybe you should have used a different tone in your post instead of the “harsh words”. Not all people are shortcut-searching-money-mongrels, some are just misinformed or so much of a beginner that they don’t know what to think or how it works.
But yea, I don’t want to rain on your parade, I had a nice laugh myself, especially at the donkey picture, totally random. I’d thought you where writing about how donkeys can help a blogger or something, was like wtf?!

Hey Blogidy, Catchy post certainly gets ones attention right off quick like….way to go. It’s true that so many bloggers think that the pot of gold is right there once they get their blog up and running, then reality sets in and you realize that you really have to work and put some time into your site to even get it going. Then so many think that once they get a little traffic that they can sit back and relax…WRONG. I would also suggest to stop buying some of those ebooks that promise you “how to make thousands of dollars fast with this or that blogging idea”. Don’t buy them most of them are not worth the money, and the ones that are free? Still not worth it, in my humble opinion. Great post glad I stopped by and found you. jj

I built (and rebuilt) for a year and a half before thinking of monetization – even now 2 years in, i have only fdone 2-3 affiliate posts and put up a couple 125 banners lol – 2010 for me as well

1. Enable the email subscribe option in your Feedburner account so I (and others) can subscribe to your feed via email.
2. Install a subscribe to comments plugin so everyone can get notified when a reply has been made to their comment. The one I use and recommend is, http://txfx.net/wordpress-plugins/subscribe-to-comments/

Someday earlier one of my friend ask me some interesting question – how much I can earn from blogging? How to get advertiser? how to get sponsors? – You know what, he yet not started a blog. I answer this way – you can earn at least $100 in your initial day but that too after 3-4 month if you have quality content – he again asked – I want to earn more quickly, I want to earn from first month – I just answer him – if that possible then everybody quite there day job – The biggest problem with new blogger is they come here to earn money and they want it from the first day, they don’t believe that blogging is a way to share your knowledge with others. I think if he again contact me I should refer this article.
